Under the Development 2050 scenario, many streams also run dry, as in Plan Trend, but, in general, streamflows do not fall as much because this scenario entails greater conversion of land from agricultural to urban and rural residential uses. These types of development usually use less water, per acre, than irrigation. Keep in mind, however, that development often degrades water quality more than agriculture, even though it uses less water.
Conservation 2050 also shows reduced streamflows in some northern streams, although none run completely dry. This results partly from less irrigation per acre and from greater water conservation efforts by citizens.
